Senior Embedded Engineer

Middletown, RI

Contract Position

$65.48-$70.48/Hour

Contribute to a company at the forefront of mission-critical systems and technologies in defense and security. This leader in global defense integrates advanced technology to deliver information and insights on the battlefield, offering roles that support security and technological superiority across multiple domains.

Responsibilities:

• Design, implement, simulate, and test firmware for FPGA- and microcontroller-based systems.
• Define FPGA timing, pinout, and placement constraints, and resolve synthesis and timing issues.
• Develop and simulate digital circuits and integrate firmware on target hardware.
• Build test systems, including software applications, and validate designs using lab equipment.
• Generate system, software, and interface requirements, as well as detailed design documentation.
• Conduct trade studies, analyses, and tests, presenting findings to the team.
• Research and evaluate new technologies to enhance system capabilities.

Qualifications:

• Education: Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering, or related field, plus 8+ years of experience; or a Master's degree with 6+ years of experience.
• Engineering Development: Proven expertise across concept, requirements, design, implementation, and test phases.
• FPGA & Firmware Expertise: Strong background in FPGA design (VHDL, verification, timing closure) and microcontroller firmware (C/C++).
• Digital Circuit Design: Solid experience in digital circuit design and low-level communication interfaces.
• Embedded Systems Knowledge: Proficiency with Linux, embedded operating systems, memory technologies, voltage regulation, ADCs, and DACs.
• Lab Tools: Skilled in using oscilloscopes, multimeters, power supplies, and soldering equipment.
• Technical Documentation: Demonstrated ability to write clear and comprehensive documentation for embedded systems.
• Preferred Experience:
  
  • OrCAD Capture, Quartus, LabWindows/CVI, Git.
  • Soft-core processors (Nios and/or MicroBlaze) and ARM-based microcontrollers.
  • National Instruments data acquisition systems.
