Mueller is the nation's leading manufacturer of flow control devices for the water and gas distribution industries and we currently have an opening in our Kimball, TN plant for a Welder.

This position is primarily responsible for various welding and fabrication activities of structural sheet metal products and other fabrication processes on various material. The individual in this role will perform the following duties:

Primary Responsibilities:

• Fabrication welding of fitted parts and other components.

• Accurately interpret blueprints and associated AWS weld symbols.

• Lifts, positions, and removes work pieces from machines to assist in fitting and welding.

• Weld components in flat, vertical, and overhead positions as required.

• Leads or assists in layout activities.

• Loads, stacks, and transports stock, tools, dies, and work in process.

• Cleans, grinds, and prepares material for fabricating, welding, passivating, painting, or shipping.

• Monitor assigned machinery, tools, and equipment while performing routine cleaning and maintenance.

• Follow quality standards using typical industrial gauging methods.

• Operate forklifts and overhead cranes with approved rigging methods as directed.

• Assembly and paint-related duties may be necessary as production demands.

• Maintain continuity among work shifts in pass off procedure by documenting actions, irregularities, and continuing operational needs, as well as communicating issues or irregularities to appropriate team lead or supervisor.

• Maintain appropriate operational documentation, including production and quality logs.

• Keep work area and department clean and organized.

• Maintain safe operations by adhering to all relevant safety guidelines, procedures, and regulations and flagging any equipment or safety issues to the appropriate team lead, supervisor, maintenance, or EHS personnel utilizing "Stop, Call, Wait" procedure.

• Perform other routine duties as directed.

Required Skills:

• Ability to pass periodic weld testing.

• Ability to proficiently MIG weld with general knowledge of TIG, and STICK welding

• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and fabricate from those prints.

• Welding on carbon steel, stainless steel, and other required surfaces and material; aluminum experience is a plus.

• Ability to proficiently use cutting torch, plasma cutter, grinders, and iron worker.

• Familiarity with basic tools of measuring and when to use for inspection of part.

• Knowledge of welding principles and techniques.

• Must be organized and detail oriented.

Required Experience:

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • AWS certification a plus
  • Knowledge of welding principles
  • 2+ years welding experience in an industrial and/or manufacturing type environment OR completion of technical welding certification with additional work experience

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), including, but not limited to, safety glasses, steel-toed or metatarsal-guarded shoes, and/or ear plugs, while working in an industrial and/or manufacturing environment.

• Ability to correctly wear a PAPR/respirator when necessary while working in weld area.

• Ability to use hands to handle, feel, or manipulate objects with fingers.

• Ability to frequently sit, stand, walk, and reach within hands and/or arm's length.

• Ability to frequently stoop, kneel, and crouch.

• Ability to frequently reach overhead or at or below shoulder level.

• Ability to ascend or descend ladders or steps, as required.

• Ability to lift, carry, push, pull, or move objects between 25 and 50 pounds in weight in all directions.

• Ability to remain in stationary or standing position for prolonged periods and to alternate between positions as necessary.

• Ability to repeat gross or fine manipulation that may include the use of wrists, hands, and/or fingers.

• Ability to perform close visual inspections of products, which may include specific vision requirements.

• Ability to work in an open warehouse environment, subject to seasonal weather (hot/cold).

• Ability to safely operate overhead cranes and other similar and advanced industrial equipment and tools.
