Position Overview:

A Tradesperson Class 2 within the OPS department completes a variety of electro-mechanical assembly operations building underwater repeaters based on training and detailed work instructions. This work is in a clean room environment where attention to detail, a focus on safety and quality as well as an ability to strive for continuous improvement are crucial.

Responsibilities and Duties:

• *Follows safety guidelines (PPE, etc.) and demonstrates safe work practices
• *Perform mechanical cleaning of assembled parts
• *Performs final assembly and testing of repeater covers.
• *Be an active participant of the daily team meeting or Gemba walks; share your findings
• *Executes daily tasks assigned by Senior Manufacturing Associate and follows the current and controlled version of the work instructions
• *Accurately performs detailed work with extreme attention to detail,
• *Follows verbal and written instruction, accepts increased responsibility and is accountable for his/her actions
• *Maintains a good safety record, has a working knowledge of the behavioral based safety initiatives and accepts the responsibility to communicate unsafe situations
• *Adheres to the safety and quality standards (goals and metrics) of the organization while working within a team environment
• *Maintains timely and accurate production checklists and other documentation
• *Supports production activities such as replenishing materials, refilling bottles with alcohol and cleaning solution, cleaning fixtures, emptying trash bins, etc.
• Promotes job and process improvement as it relates to the department (through 5S as well as other improvement initiatives)
• Successfully learns a variety of production processes and performs them safely and proficiently
• Overtime may be required, based on business need; regular attendance required
• Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalency required
• Math skills to include addition, subtraction, multiplication and division in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals
• Intermediate computer skills, including entering data into software program, looking up documents within an online library and MS Office, including Outlook
• Ability to read and interpret handheld measuring equipment such as a metal rule, tape measures, calipers, verniers and micrometers and pressure gauges
• Must have good hand-eye coordination
• Cleanroom experience preferred
• Ability to speak, read and write English with technical proficiency
