The Department of Surgery at Tulane Medical School is actively recruiting a dedicated thoracic surgeon to develop and lead our Thoracic Oncology Program. The Gulf South leads the nation in deaths related to aerodigestive cancers and the right faculty candidate for this leadership position must possess a desire to develop a thoracic oncology program and be committed to the tripartite mission of clinical, educational, and research excellence. The chosen candidate will be expected to work closely with the various multidisciplinary teams within the hospital system and build and develop ties throughout our wider referral network through strategic and programmatic partnerships to grow surgical volume. The ideal candidate would have a strong academic interest to pursue clinical, basic, and/or translational research.
Candidates will be board-certified by the ABTS and have a demonstrated expertise in surgery for tumors of the chest, including cancer of the lung, esophagus, chest wall and mediastinum. Expertise in minimally invasive thoracic surgery is necessary as is experience in advanced pulmonary resections and esophagectomies.
The applicant must qualify for a Louisiana medical license.
