Tenure faculty (regardless of rank) - persons with the titles of professor, associate professor, assistant professor and instructor who serve on appointments totaling 50% or more service to the university and who are eligible for tenure or who have obtained tenure. Duties and responsibilities are assigned in accordance with the workload guidelines laid out in the pattern of administration of each faculty member's tenure initiation unit (TIU) and, as appropriate, regional campus; obligations will include research, service and/or teaching or clinical practice. These faculty will have earned doctorate or other terminal degree in the relevant field of study or possession of equivalent experience.

Position Overview

The Ohio State University's School of Health and Rehabilitation Sciences invites applications for a tenure-track faculty member within Medical Dietetics at the Professor, Associate Professor, or Assistant Professor rank. We are seeking faculty who will: sustain or develop an extramurally funded and productive scholarship program through grants, publications, and presentations; teach within the Master of Dietetics and Nutrition (MDN), MS, and PhD programs in the School of Health and Rehabilitation Sciences consistent with expertise, mentor students in each program; and contribute to service needs of the School, College, University and appropriate professional organizations. We are particularly interested in faculty with established scholarly expertise at the intersections between food and human health, particularly with a focus on human behavior and the implications on the prevention, education, and management of nutrition-related chronic disease, and/or improved health outcomes in individuals or communities. The preferred scholar will complement existing strengths within the School and at the OSU Wexner Medical Center.

Performance Objectives

  • Maintains active scholarship: Serves as principal investigator and/or co-investigator on competitive extramural grants; presents scholarly work at international, national, and regional meetings; disseminates scholarly work through high-impact peer-reviewed journals and/or scientific professional meetings.
  • Develops, plans, and delivers core and elective courses within the School of Health and Rehabilitation's MDN, MS, and PhD programs; and participates in curriculum design and revisions.
  • Actively participates in service to Division, School, College, University, professional and community organizations; and other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience Requirements

Required: PhD or equivalent in a related field to dietetics or nutrition; current Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN) credential; established record or strong evidence of extramurally funded and productive scholarship in a discipline of nutrition and dietetics; evidence of impactful teaching ability (including distance/online); ability to effectively mentor undergraduate and graduate students; and strong record of service to the dietetics or nutrition profession.

Desired: Established scholarly expertise in human clinical nutrition, nutrition-related behavior change, and/or system-level applications in the community.

The Division of Medical Dietetics in the School of Health and Rehabilitation Sciences is in a large, energetic academic medical center and research extensive university, offering many collaboration and innovations opportunities.
