Summary: The Tax Manager is responsible for performing basic to advanced tax preparation, tax research and tax planning while ensuring compliance with relevant IRS regulations . This role also reviews the tax returns prepared by the staff and senior tax accountants. The tax manager contacts clients to resolve a variety of tax matters and also advises on appropriate tax strategies for organizations.
General Work Responsibilities:
• Reviews tax information supplied by client; meet or call client with questions
• Utilizes and understands various tax programs and software
• Prepares intermediate to advanced personal, corporate, partnership and trust tax returns
• Prepares intermediate to advanced amended returns, property tax returns, employee benefit plan returns, carryback returns and payroll tax returns
• Prepares and/or delegates the preparation of necessary documents for tax payments and returns
• Manages or Assists in federal and state tax audits
• Manages or Assists in financial planning and analysis: Identifies and effectively applies tax knowledge and recommends tax strategies that align with client goals, and suggests ways to increase their profits
• Share tax projections with Senior Manager and/or Partners
• Follows industry trends and tracks changes related to taxes and accounting practices
• Performs other taxation, accounting, and consulting duties as needed and as assigned by Tax Partner or other Partners
• Coaches and trains other staff members
• Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed, including special projects
