Sustainability Lecturer Position at UTK Geography & Sustainability for 2024-2025 Description: The Department of Geography & Sustainability at The University of Tennessee Knoxville invites applications for a one-year appointment for a Lecturer in Sustainability, with the possibility for renewal. The instructor will be expected to teach four (4) classes per semester in sustainability at the lower and upper division levels using in-person and fully online delivery modes. The Sustainability Program consists of a Sustainability major with additional concentrations in Public Policy and Supply Chain Management and a Sustainability minor. There are opportunities to teach classes during summer and mini terms for additional pay. Candidates with experience engaging sustainability students with local communities are especially encouraged to apply. The position comes with a faculty office, use of a laptop computer, access to department research labs, and funds for conference travel or other professional development. This is a full-time, non tenure-track faculty position with a promotion ladder. The initial appointment period is 1 or 2 years, depending on qualifications, and is renewable subject to funding availability and adequate performance by the successful applicant. The Department of Geography & Sustainability at the University of Tennessee maintains expertise in human geography, physical geography, sustainability, and GIS&T. The department offers a BS degree in GIS&T, and BA degrees in Geography, and Sustainability, as well as MS and PhD degrees in Geography. The Knoxville Campus of the University of Tennessee is seeking candidates who have the ability to contribute in meaningful ways to the diversity and intercultural goals of the University. Requirements: The successful candidate should have a Ph.D. by the initial start date, the ability to teach sustainability courses, and some previous teaching experience. The candidate must be able to relocate to Knoxville, TN. Location: The University of Tennessee at Knoxville is the flagship educational institution in the State of Tennessee. The Department of Geography & Sustainability has its own modern building at the heart of campus, with an office for the lecturer.
