Job Title:Student Advocacy Program CoordinatorDepartment:Student Life | Student Advocacy

The Program Coordinator/Support and Intervention Coordinator within the Student Advocacy Center of The Ohio State University's Office of Student Life serves as a critical team member in creating a community of care for our students. The Support and Intervention Coordinator addresses the needs of students struggling with issues related to success at Ohio State, including but not limited to, mental and emotional health; academic progress; and social adjustment. This position provides advocacy, consulting, advising, and referrals for students with an emphasis on support. With a focus on case management intended to address concerns of students with on-going needs, the coordinator will assist students in understanding and utilizing university policies and procedures and will guide students to university resources to support success.


This position is responsible for implementing and maintaining a case management process designed to coordinate, facilitate, and monitor programs and services available to students in distress. By collaborating with other program coordinators and case managers, this position is responsible for advocacy and case management services including but not limited to non-clinical crisis intervention, emergency response and after-hours on-call duties. The Support and Intervention Coordinator will provide a point of connection for students, including follow-up to assure necessary resources are being provided and needs are being met.

This position will have a secondary focus of serving as a general advocate to the student population and will be included in rotation for on-site response to a student death or personal crisis.

Qualifications

Required: Bachelor's degree in Social Work, Counseling or related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience; 4 years of relevant experience; experience in advising students with diverse needs; strong written and verbal communication skills. Successful completion of a criminal background check.

Desired: Master's degree in Higher Education, Counseling, Social Work, or related field; 4 to 8 years of relevant experience; extensive knowledge of university policies and procedures.
