We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Staff Software Engineer to join our Personalization Team in Sunnyvale. In this role, you will be responsible for developing and implementing predictions from cutting edge machine learning algorithms to drive enhanced membership experience at Walmart.com. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to understand business requirements and develop innovative solutions using machine learning techniques. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in programming languages, machine learning algorithms and data analysis, along with excellent problem-solving and communication skills.

Our team works closely with our US stores and eCommerce business to better serve customers by empowering team members, stores, and merchants with technological innovation. From groceries and entertainment to sporting goods and crafts, Walmart U.S. offers an extensive selection that our customers value, whether they shop online at Walmart.com, through one of our mobile apps, or in-store. Focus areas include customers, stores and employees, in-store service, merchant tools, merchant data science, and search and personalization.
What you'll do:
- Collaborate with the Personalization Team in Sunnyvale to understand business requirements and develop machine learning solutions for personalized recommendation systems.
- Design and implement advanced machine learning and computer science algorithms in the Personalization e-commerce platform.
- Continuously monitor and evaluate feature and model performance, making necessary improvements and enhancements.
- Collaborate with engineers to integrate machine learning models and algorithms into existing systems and platforms.
- Conduct experiments and A/B testing to measure the impact of new models and algorithms.
- Stay up-to-date with the latest advancements in machine learning techniques and technologies, and proactively apply them to improve our recommendation systems.
- Mentor and provide guidance to junior machine learning engineers, promoting knowledge sharing and technical growth within the team.
- Collaborate with data engineering teams to ensure the availability and quality of data required for model training and evaluation.
- Experience with developing and writing unit-test and regression test cases for new software features and enhancements
- Stay updated with industry trends and best practices in machine learning and artificial intelligence.
What you'll bring:

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Machine Learning, Statistics, or a related field with 5+ experience as a Software Engineer, or similar role.
- Strong understanding of machine learning concepts, algorithms, and frameworks.
- Proficient in Java, Python programming language and knowledge of following libraries such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, scikit-learn is a plus.
- Experience with NoSQL systems like Cassandra, Couchbase systems.
- Experience with Springboot or similar RestAPI interfaces.
- Experience with big data processing technologies like Apache Spark.
- Experience in developing and deploying machine learning models in a production environment.
- Familiarity with cloud platforms such as AWS, GCP, or Azure. Should be able to spin up and deploy to cloud platforms.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to think creatively to develop innovative solutions.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to effectively present complex ideas to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
- Experience in personalization and recommendation systems.
- Knowledge of deep learning techniques and frameworks.
- Experience with distributed computing and parallel processing.
- Familiarity with Agile development methodologies.
- Publications or contributions to the machine learning community.

The annual salary range for this position is $143,000.00-$286,000.00
Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance bonuses.
