About the Team
The Uber Freight is building a better future for shipping. we believe that when shipping. We believe that when shippers and carriers have the freedom to move together, the entire industry moves ahead. Our teams, design and build innovative applications. infrastructure, and models to power Uber Freight. Utilizing Uber's foundational elements, these include the mobile app for carriers, the portals and integrations that give Shippers access to the platform, tools for our Operations teams, and all the underlying pricing, matching, and forecasting, algorithms that evolve the freight industry forward.
About the Role
As a Software Engineer at Uber Freight, you will balance your contributions between Frontend and Backend based on your core strengths, ranging from writing client-side code for web applications used by our ops teams to develop scalable backend micro-services to improve Uber's core logistics brokerage experience. Our teams operate our business through amazing product experiences built specifically to deliver value to customers, whether on the supply or demand side of our market.
You will be partnering with Product Managers, Designers, UXR & Data Scientists to bring Algorithmic solutions to our users. At your disposal will be the tools that helped Uber Freight grow to be a worldwide company, as well as new and upcoming tech from our Compute, Platform and Machine Learning teams.
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science or other related field
- 1-2 years of related experience in Software Engineering
- Proficient in one of the following programming languages: Go, Java, C/C++
- Knowledge of data structure, algorithms, complexity analysis ability to use them practically when implementing solutions.
- Strong desire to learn and grow, while building the best in class systems.
- Strong flair for effective communication and collaboration - you know when to push on and when to step back.
- An ability to have fun while working on the hardest problems.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience developing and shipping code to production systems
- Good understanding of distributed systems and architecture
- Knowledge of the logistics and freight industry is a plus
- Prior experience in Go and ReactJS
