Compensation Range
Annual Salary: $48,000.00 - $48,000.00 (Amount based on relevant experience, skills, and competencies.)

About This Job

As an Institutional Fixed Income Sales Associate for the Capital Markets Group, you will be responsible for the solicitation of new business opportunities with community banks and other financial institutions within assigned regional territories. You will utilize a consultative sales approach to introduce investment products and related services to engage with executive management in order to build relationships and grow our market presence. Candidates will spend time working with our senior sales, trading and asset liability management teams to learn the skills necessary to speak with portfolio managers at banks and other institutions. Upon successful completion of the Sales Associate program, candidates may transition to a fully commissioned sales role.

Essential Functions

• Solicit new business opportunities with community banks and other financial institutions within assigned regional territories by utilizing a consultative sales approach to introduce investment products and related services to engage with executive management in order to build relationships and grow market presence
  
• Work with senior sales, trading and asset liability management teams to learn the skills necessary to speak with portfolio managers at banks and other institutions
  
• Market fixed income products and related services to reach annual production goals
  
• Regularly travel to meet with clients and prospects in person to facility building trusted relationships
  
• Assist senior sales representatives as needed
  
• Perform other duties as assigned
  

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required

• Basic knowledge of the banking and/or finance industry
  
• Ability to learn fixed income product sets
  
• Strong strategic, analytical, and problem-solving skills
  
• Well-developed sales skills and the ability to manage complex relationship sales cycles
  
• Ability to maintain a valid driver's license and meet Commerce Bank's driving record criteria; ongoing employment may be contingent upon meeting all driving requirements
  
• Motivated and organized self-starter with strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities
  
• Inquisitive and agile with excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills
  
• Ability to remain adaptable and resilient to all situations with an optimistic outlook and cast a positive shadow that is aligned with our culture and Core Values
  
• Basic level proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Teams and Outlook
  

Education & Experience

• Bachelor's degree in business-related field with a strong emphasis in Finance, Accounting, Entrepreneurship or Economics or equivalent combination of education and experience required
  
• 2+ years outbound sales experience required
  
• Prior commissioned sales experience preferred
  
• Experience with Bloomberg preferred
  
• Ability to obtain SIE and Series 52 registration within 90 days of hire
  
• Ability to obtain Series 7 and Series 63 registration within 180 days of hire

At Commerce, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role, and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each situation. A reasonable estimate of the current base pay is $48,000 annually. This position will be eligible for additional compensation through performance-based incentive plan(s) that will correspond to meeting performance goals.
