Job Description

The Department of Neurology is seeking a highly motivated candidate for a Research Specialist B/C position. The prospective candidate will work on translational research projects related altered neuronal and glial function in epilepsy and its interaction with other disorders such as autism and dementia. Specifically, the specialist will assess animal behavior, cellular and regional alterations in synaptic and signaling pathways genes and proteins using whole animal, human tissue, and in vitro brain slices and cell culture preparation.

In addition to research techniques, a Research Specialist C will be expected to assist other members of the lab in maintaining equipment, managing orders, and assisting with preparation of regulatory materials.

A cover letter is required. This position is contingent upon funding.

Qualifications

The minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Biological Science is required. The successful candidate must have exceptional organization and communication skills, ability to multi-task efficiently, work independently, collect data, and prepare lab reports. Experience with rodent handling and colony maintenance is preferred. Prior experience is preferred in in vivo animal models and animal surgery, genotyping, protein and gene analyses such iHC, western, PCR and RNA seq.

Research Specialist B
Bachelor's Degree and 1-3 years of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience is required.

Research Specialist C
Bachelor's Degree with 3-5 years of related experience in research, clinical study, project and people management or equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
