Description of Work:The Community and Regional Planning program at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln is seeking a Research Assistant Professor specializing in environmental planning for conservation lands, with a potential start date of January 1, 2025, but the position will remain open until filled. This role focuses on advancing conservation management using satellite technology and cloud computing for continuous monitoring and long-term assessments of hydrological, vegetation, and carbon dynamics, as well as evaluating the environmental benefits of conservation lands.
The Research Assistant Professor will collaborate with various stakeholders, contribute to research in environmental and conservation planning, and produce peer-reviewed scientific publications. Publication goals will be set collaboratively, focusing on specific areas of interest. The position offers professional development opportunities, including training in data analysis, manuscript preparation, and grant writing. Additionally, it provides practical experience in community outreach, interdisciplinary collaboration, and presenting research findings at scientific conferences. The Research Assistant Professor will have an opportunity to engage in classroom teaching, educational career development, and support activities such as data management, statistical analysis, graduate student advising, and the preparation of grant proposals and annual reports. The initial contract will be for up to three (3) years with the potential for renewal based on achieved performance, availability of funding, and the continuation of the position, among other factors.
