The Diabetes Research Institute has an exciting opportunity for a part time Research Assistant 3 (A) position. The incumbent explores innovations to research and strives to improve implementation and family outcomes. The Research Assistant 3 (A) ensures compliance with University policies, rules, and regulations to meet federal, state, and local standards pertaining to safety and ethics.
CORE JOB FUNCTIONS
- Plans and implements research experiments, according to research protocols, to assure high-quality scientific results in support of applicable project goals.
- Participates in assessing the feasibility of implementing innovations.
- Assesses data trends and develops reports and presentations.
- Supports the initiation of new research by reviewing and synthesizing literature.
- Oversees inventory of supplies and equipment and places orders in a timely fashion.
- Assists in the preparation of scientific papers, reports, and manuscripts.
- Adheres to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguards University assets.

- High School diploma or equivalent required
- Minimum 3 years of relevant experience
DEPARTMENT ADDENDUMDepartment Specific FunctionsThe laboratory serves as a core facility for the analysis of research samples from multiple research studies. Technical Duties will include
Perform laboratory procedures as assigned by supervisor Process and accession specimens submitted to the laboratory Preparation of reagents and controls Perform weekly and daily maintenance of equipment Perform laboratory testing using automated and manual methods. Data entry into spreadsheets/databases Assist with inventory of reagents and supplies Must be able to communicate and interact with investigators and research staff from other laboratories in a collegial and profession manner
Department Specific Qualifications Education:College degree with a science background preferred
Certification and Licensing:None required
Experience:At least one year working in a laboratory environment
