We are looking for a Regional Human Resources Manager who will join the HR team in our Marysville, OH manufacturing plant.

Scotts Miracle-Gro is looking for a Human Resource Manager to lead HR at both our Marysville, Ohio and Orville, Ohio manufacturing facilities. Our Marysville site is the largest facility in our entire Supply Chain network, employing nearly 500 associates, and our Orville site is a dynamic, multifaceted operation just a short drive from Marysville. The HR leader in this role not only has accountability for all day-to-day HR activity at both sites, but will also serve as a key strategic partner to site leadership as an active member of the leadership team. This role reports to the Director of HR for Global Supply Chain, and is part of a high performing team supporting the Scotts Supply Chain network across North America. The right candidate for this role will have a strong HR background in a manufacturing environment, and a proven track record of designing and implementing people strategies that have delivered value to the business.

Everyday you will:

  • Provide associate relations services to associates in the form of facilitating open communication, resolving associate issues, and coaching.
  • Provide guidance and support to supervisors and managers on associate relations issues, policy interpretation, performance management, problem solving, FMLA, ADA, Worker Compensation and leave of absence administration.
  • Lead investigations, Ethics Line complaints relating to Associate Relations issues and unemployment claims/hearings.
  • Be responsible for full life cycle recruitment for the Marysville and Orville manufacturing sites.. This includes developing and executing a staffing strategy, creating requisitions, coordinating recruiting efforts, interviewing, working with managers to make final selections and job offers, and counseling hiring managers on the hiring process and philosophy.
  • Facilitate new hire orientation and manage all staffing efforts in partnership with Talent Acquisition.
  • Lead HR Projects: participates on project teams and/or works independently on a variety of projects including the development of new policies, programs, performance management, succession planning, and training.
  • Coordinate associate involvement activities, plans associate appreciation events and coordinates community relations events.
  • Maintain employee HR files according to company and compliance guidelines.
  • Drive a positive culture that creates an inspiring associate experience.

  • A talent scout- identifying opportunities to upgrade our talent, both internally and externally; communicating and training leaders on appropriate talent development techniques and forums.
  • An ambassador of our culture- inspiring all to bring their best daily and living/leading our values.
  • An experienced HR professional- ideally with 5 years of experience in an HR Generalist type role and a Bachelor's degree. Certifications are a plus as they are achieved based on training and experience.
  • Curious- demonstrating an innate desire to learn how things work and how things can be improved.
  • Energized by high change environments and is comfortable with ambiguity.
  • A problem solver- using creative avenues to solve problems, demonstrating both breadth and depth; demonstrating strong judgment and proven ability to diagnose issues, drawing on both professional experience and strategic thinking skills to drive appropriate solutions with self-initiative.

Experienced with:
  • Supporting supply chain, manufacturing, and/or distribution sites and know that not every work environment or culture is the same.
  • A supply chain, manufacturing, and/or distribution environment. You must understand the priorities and experience of the front-line associate and can speak the language of the factory or warehouse floor. Safety, efficiency, employee relations and engagement are second nature as well as providing sound advice and counsel to front-line leaders.
  • A matrixed HR support model (centers of excellence - compensation, payroll, talent management, talent acquisition, shared services, etc.) Have worked closely with the HR leadership and corporate HR on the business' needs and support them by driving the implementation of compensation programs, benefits, talent management/acquisition and other needed programs.
  • Extensive Employee Relations experience/expertise (i.e. leading investigations from investigation to conclusion, coaching Leaders at all levels with regards to feedback/development, managing EEOC claims, leading conflict resolution)
  • Talent management / talent planning - upgrading talent through workforce planning and working with newer managers
  • Supporting front-line associates, managers, executives, etc.

The starting budgeted pay range for this role will generally fall between $108,300.00 - $127,400.00 per year. Scotts will consider various factors in determining the actual pay including your skills, qualifications, experience, and geographical location.
