Basic Job Functions:
The QST Operator/Utility is responsible for, but not limited to, the selection of proper set points contained in each TWS table prior to its sending to the PLC, the correct setup of the QST machine and its components prior to its use, the operation of QST machine equipment to include HMI, TWS, and LCS bench board, maintaining set points in tables via the TWS, as well as the catalogue (recipe) inventory and ensuring the correct QST recipe is selected on each beam before it is discharged from the reheat. The QST Operator/Utility is also responsible for recording the Self-Tempering Temperature (SST) measured by the thermal imaging equipment, adjusting the QST spray water pressures and zones, calling for adjustments in UF speed and flange cooling systems in order to maintain uniform temperatures and dimensions of the product, diagnosing and reporting any improperly functioning equipment related to normal function of the QST machine, its software, and its components to maintenance personnel, and maintaining setup template inventory.
When QST is not in need of an operator, the QST Operator/Utility will cover mill areas at the discretion of the Roll Mill leadership. These roles can be, but are not limited to, running the crane (once certified), assisting in the sample shack, assisting with the profile gauge, operating the cooling bed, operating the hot saws, and operating the reheat furnace.
During times when the mill is not in operation, the primary job of the QST Operator/Utility will be to perform maintenance on the QST machine. The QST Operator/Utility can also be needed to help with other down-day maintenance projects at the discretion of the Roll Mill and Maintenance leadership.
Qualified candidates must be willing to work rotating shifts, including nights, weekends, vacation coverage, and holidays.

Minimum Requirements:
1 year rolling and/or finishing experience in a steel facility

Experience diagnosing problems with software, hardware and mechanical issues with the QST equipment.
Experience with mechanical and/or electrical maintenance
Experience with automation systems, hydraulic systems, and/or material properties
Experience with Quality Control processes
