Reporting to: Director of the Department of Pharmacy

Role Overview: The Pyxis Coordinator is responsible for overseeing the operation of all workstations and the narcotics CII safe. This role includes directing the filling, emptying, and configuring of dispensing units, running reports, and monitoring narcotic use. The Pyxis Coordinator also completes data backups for the system and serves as the primary narcotics operations technician. This position requires training all technicians and pharmacists on the operations of the CII safe, Pyxis workstations, and Pyxis PC.
Responsibilities:

Dispensing Operations: Directs the filling, emptying, and configuration of the Pyxis dispensing units.

Narcotic Monitoring: Monitors narcotic use and runs reports to ensure compliance and accuracy.

Data Management: Completes system backups and maintains the integrity of narcotic records.

Training: Trains all technicians and pharmacists on Pyxis system operations, including the CII safe and Pyxis workstations.

Coordination: Acts as a liaison between technicians, pharmacists, and nursing staff to ensure smooth operations and address any issues with the Pyxis system.

Equipment Proficiency: Ensures proper use and maintenance of equipment such as Pyxis, Pyxis Connect, and other related technologies.
What You Will Need:Required:

Licensure/Certification: National Pharmacy Technician Certification and Active Maryland Pharmacy Technician Registration.

Education: High School diploma or equivalent; some college or coursework in computer operations preferred.

Experience: Minimum of 5 years in a role encompassing both Certified Pharmacy Technician duties and computer operations.

Skills:
- Proficiency in simple mathematics.
- Strong command of computer software programs, including Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Ability to effectively use equipment such as the telephone, typewriter, calculator, computer, printers, facsimile, photocopier, Pyxis, and Pyxis Connect.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to train nurses and collaborate with pharmacy members.
- Ability to handle frequent disruptions due to customer phone calls.
- Good organizational and analytical skills.
