Overview
Job Summary
American Foods Group, LLC, has an opportunity for a Plant Controller at our Long Prairie, MN facility. As a key member of the plant leadership team, you will be a key contributor to successful plant operations. You will exercise financial leadership to the local team by delivering accurate information and applying business insight to make decisions that will affect the overall success and profitability of the plant.

Key Responsibilities

  • Be a leader within the plant and partner with the business
  • Provide directions for plant accounting operations
  • Perform various month end close and year end duties including audit support.
  • Provide monthly variance analysis versus 1) estimate or forecast, 2) budget, 3) prior year.
  • Perform cost accounting duties (yields, product costing, labor standards) and translate impacts to business
  • Understand internal customer requirements and provide necessary support.
  • Partner and Support plant VP of Ops, Plant Managers, Department Managers, and functional department leaders:
    • Business decision support.
    • Capex analysis and justification.
    • Cost control support.
    • Budget and forecast.
    • Strategize for continuous improvement initiatives
      • Optimized margins
      • Minimize costs
      • Prioritize
  • Proactively support plant accounting team through cross training and personal working knowledge of all positions.
  • Personnel development of plant accounting team.
  • Enforce financial and accounting policies and procedures.
  • Maintain systems, reporting processes, controls, and ongoing financial modeling.
  • Areas of expertise:

    • Cost/managerial accounting.
    • Technical/accounting.
    • Product knowledge.
    • Process improvement.
    • Lean manufacturing.

Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications (Required):
  • Must be able to work in the United States without sponsorship.
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or related field.
  • 10 or more years' related experience in manufacturing/production industries.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • CPA certification is advantageous.
  • Food production experience.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Project management.
  • Market/industry.
  • Internal controls.
  • Personnel development.
  • Economic / Financial analysis.
  • Information technology.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications and ability to learn other software.
  • Flexible work schedule to include some evenings and/or weekends as needed
