Reporting Relationships

Report to: Global Lab Operations Manager

Supervises: Pilot Lab Technicians

About the Role

The Pilot lab supervisor will lead the lab technicians to ensure safe and effective production of separator materials, prototypes, and products for lead acid batteries to meet new product, material and technology development goals

Adequately provide resources for all assigned processes and procedures to fulfill requirements. Awareness of expectations is demonstrated in all relevant levels of the organization. Required Skills/Abilities

Communications: Able to interact directly with Daramic teams, outside testing facilities or vendors to

meet project requirements.

Languages: English

Skills: General familiarity with Battery separators, general familiarity with polymer extrusion, extraction, and finishing. Leadership, Computer skills for data analysis

Expectations

  • Ensure high quality production of battery separator and other membranes for lab testing and customer prototypes
  • Schedule and maintain pilot lab projects and ensure communication to key stakeholders
  • Analyzing, maintaining, and compiling data in a meaningful way with timely report out to project managers
  • Writing and keeping up to date standard operating procedures and train others on the procedures and protocols
  • Confers with pilot, analytical and energy lab personnel and product development engineers and managers to understand problems and testing requirements.
  • Perform troubleshooting of pilot equipment to determine and fix errors if/when they happen.
  • Examines separator products for conformance with product specification
  • May recommend changes in test methods or equipment for review.
  • Coordinates testing and workflow to meet project needs.

Working Conditions

General office environment. Work is generally sedentary in nature but may require standing and walking for up to 30% of the time. Lighting and temperature are adequate. Work is generally performed within an office environment, with standard equipment available. Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount to force frequently to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects including the human body.

Candidate Requirements

Education: Associates Degree. Bachelor Degree preferred

Professional experience: 3 - 5 years lab experience, with 1-2 years supervision experience
