Job Description:
Nebraska Game & Parks is seeking a physically driven and quality motivated individual to join our maintenance staff at our Lincoln Office. We are looking to fill this permanent fulltime Maintenance Technician position with a person that is wanting to expand their knowledge and skills in the areas of Grounds maintenance, building repair/preventative maintenance, and custodial/janitorial work.

Job Description Summary:
This is work as an entry-level to semi-skilled building laborer or tradesperson in the performance of routine grounds maintenance, apprentice-level facility maintenance activities, and custodial/janitorial work. The work of this position is typically labor intensive and will receive general supervision in the areas of grounds keeping work, and uncomplicated building repair and maintenance. Positions at this level receive verbal instruction to properly accomplish or organize tasks. Decision-making authority is limited to selection of tools or equipment and determining the organization and sequence of separate work tasks.

Requirements/Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications: No specific education, training, or experience is required for entry to this class.

Preferred: Applicants to have a standard Operators drivers' license and a good driving record.

PREFERRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, OR ABILITIES IN ANY OF THE FOLLOWING AREAS: Knowledge of: grounds keeping and horticultural practices; safe use of fertilizers, insecticides, and herbicides; standard use, maintenance and safety practices associated with hand tools, power tools and light to heavy machinery; building and mechanical trade methods, practices and procedures; occupational hazards and safety precautions followed in building maintenance operations; commercial cleaning practices, supplies and techniques. Skill in the use of hand tools, power tools and building maintenance equipment; basic office and computer skills including competency in the use of email, and building system applications. Ability to: communicate effectively, understand, and follow instructions, read, and comprehend blueprints, reference books and equipment manuals; utilize and maintain hand tools, power tools and grounds maintenance equipment safely; operate industrial-type cleaning equipment; climb ladders or scaffolding to perform work above ground, and work outside in all weather conditions.
