Job Summary:

The Perioperative Preference Card Coordinator plays a key role in managing and maintaining preference cards within the surgical services department. Procedures/Preference Cards provide the basis for accurate clinical documentation and provide critical data that influences business, financial, and operational decisions. The Perioperative Preference Card Coordinator will independently handle project-based tasks that enhance departmental operations and support workflow improvements, leading to better patient care, increased clinical efficiency, and higher staff satisfaction. The role serves as a crucial resource for clinical operations and physicians addressing issues related to preference card creation, maintenance, and workflow. Collaboration is central to this position, working closely with Supply Chain, Surgical Services leadership, and Service Coordinators to continuously refine the preference card maintenance process and data collection methods, and drive improvements in both operational processes and patient outcomes.

EXPERIENCE DESCRIPTION:

Three years of experience in surgical services operating room environment.

Proficiency in working within the Epic operating environment.

Broad knowledge of health care industry, clinical issues, product standardization practices and goals, and basic understanding of supply chain principles and practices.

Three years of clinical experience preferred.

Working knowledge of Epic Optime.

Previous experience with clinical information systems related to preference cards.

EDUCATION DESCRIPTION:

Associate's degree in a healthcare, business, or IT related field.

Bachelor's degree in a healthcare field, preferred.

SPECIAL SKILLS DESCRIPTION:

Ability to work under pressure and prioritize tasks to meet deadlines and training commitments for preference cards.

Self-directed and independent worker with a proven ability to learn and understand system technologies, demonstrating strong attention to detail.

Skilled in organizing and managing multiple priorities, using time effectively to achieve goals.

Problem-solving capability at both a strategic and functional levels, with the ability to use diplomacy to address diverse situations.

Strong customer orientation and team player, with the ability to interact respectively and supportively with staff members, leadership, physicians, information services, and supply chain personnel.

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written.

Proficiency in the Windows operating environment using Microsoft Office Professional Products (Outlook, Excel, Word).

Data processing and keyboarding skills with a basic understanding of analytic models.

Comprehensive knowledge of the healthcare industry, including clinical issues, product standardization practices, and supply chain practices and principles.
