Salary: $29.00 USD Hourly - $40.00 USD Hourly
Description: Our client is currently seeking a Patient Services Specialist
Hybrid in Mission Viejo CA


Direct Patient Care Role Responsibilities:
  • Maintain Competencies: Continuously update and perform essential skills required for the specific area of hire and populations served.
  • Orientation: Assist in orienting new hires to the department.
  • Patient Registration: Accurately register patients, ensuring all information is correct and complete.
  • Communication: Interface and communicate effectively with all hospital employees, fostering positive and constructive working relationships.
  • Admission Verification: Ensure each admission adheres to the defined policies and procedures of the registration process.
  • Authorization Management: Obtain and enter necessary authorizations into Meditech.
  • Meeting Participation: Attend department staff meetings regularly.
  • Compliance: Adhere to Health Stream and Employee Health requirements.
  • Support: Assist Department Lead and Supervisor as needed.
Registration Accuracy:
  • Ensure all patient registrations are accurate and proficient, following departmental policies and procedures, including:
    • Correct insured's name, relationship, and policy number.
    • Accurate financial class and insurance plan code.
    • Complete and accurate Medicare screening questions for all Medicare patients.
    • Scan ID insurance card and physician's orders into Meditech.
    • Answer advance directives questions completely on admissions and scan into Meditech.
    • Obtain signed Consent for Treatment and Important Medicare Message for all inpatients.
Quality Assurance:
  • Perform quality assurance to ensure the highest degree of data integrity through timely, complete, and efficient collection of patient information:
    • No spelling errors.
    • Correct armbands for patients.
    • Request copays/deductibles and deposits from all insured and self-pay patients.
    • Register and release patient valuables without error or complaint.
    • Complete age-specific competency orientation and training.
Quality Improvement:
  • Resource Utilization: Ensure appropriate supplies and equipment are available, accounted for, and used cost-effectively.
  • Safety: Maintain a clean, comfortable environment for customers and others by taking appropriate safety precautions and responding effectively to urgent safety situations.
  • Productivity: Complete a minimum of 5 registrations per hour. Organize, prioritize, and complete activities efficiently. Demonstrate initiative in assisting others and performing additional duties based on skill level and training.
  • Quality Improvement Program: Participate in department problem-solving, suggest improvements, and facilitate change
