Patient Care Associate - Ellison 8 - Cardiac Surgical Step Down unit
Ellison 8, is a thirty six bed adult Cardiac Surgical Step Down Unit., located in Boston, MA. Patients are primarily admitted post operatively from the Blake 8 - Cardiac Surgical Intensive Care Unit. Patients are also admitted pre-op for cardiac surgery. Common diagnoses include coronary artery disease, valvular heart disease, aortic disease, congenital heart disease, lethal arrhythmias, S/P coronary bypass graft, S/P valve replacement, ACID placement, and permanent pacemaker placement. The unit is in search of a highly motivated and dedicated individual to join our team as a Patient Care Associate (PCA) in Ellison 8.

The PCA plays a crucial role in providing exceptional care to our patients in the Medical Unit. As a member of the multidisciplinary healthcare team, you will assist in clinical support functions to promote a safe and compassionate patient care environment. Your contributions will directly impact the lives of patients and their families during critical moments of their healthcare journey. Our dedicated team works on a rotational holiday and weekend schedule, providing 36-40 hours of coverage per week. This allows for a balanced work-life schedule and the opportunity to make a meaningful impact on patient care.

- Assisting patients with daily living needs, monitoring vital signs, drawing blood, and acquiring EKGs.

- Communicating with patients and their families in a respectful and compassionate manner.

Qualifications

Required: Must have recent experience, and/or training, in clinical patient care.

Preferred: Licensed, certified, or enrolled student in a Nursing Assistant, Medical Assistant, Mental Health Technician, or EMT accredited program, at the time of hire, OR
- Candidate enrolled in a Nursing, Pre-Med, PA undergraduate program, with at least one semester of patient care rotations completed, at time of hire.
