• $25-$30 per hour depending on experience, Non-Exempt (Eligible for overtime)

The Department of Mechanical Engineering at the University of North Dakota invites applications for a part-time temporary researcher assistant in aerospace engineering to work under the supervision of Dr. Carson Running.

The appointment is expected to begin on October 16, 2024, or at a minimum sometime during the fall 2024 academic semester.

• The successful applicant must have demonstrated excellence in experimental research in the field of fluid dynamics and a track record of peer-reviewed publications. The successful applicant will have excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal skills. The successful applicant will have the following primary responsibilities and duties:
  • Official duties and responsibilities of the applicant include student mentorship, experimental design, testing, data processing, and publishing.
  • Communicating effectively in English with students, families, faculty, staff, and other professional colleagues in person and at-a-distance (phone, email, etc.).
  • Conducting engineering scholarly activities including grant preparation and submission, mentoring of graduate student researchers, and publication of results.

• Experience or demonstrated ability working with diverse groups
• Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal skills.
• Proven ability to operate effectively as a team player and leader who works effectively with superiors, peers, and subordinates and has strong interpersonal skills, and independent judgment.

• MS and/or PhD degree in aerospace engineering, mechanical engineering, or a closely related discipline.
• Successful completion of a Criminal History Background Check

• Experimental research experience in the following areas: wind-tunnel testing, optical measurement techniques for aerodynamics, schlieren techniques, pressure- and temperature-sensitive paint techniques.
• Experience designing experimental testing rigs.
• Experience presenting/publishing research findings.
