Job Summary:
The Operating Room Equipment Technician works as an integral part of the healthcare team, responsible for maintaining a safe environment in which quality patient care is delivered. He/she in collaboration with OR Leadership, team leaders and biomedical engineering team. The equipment technician in surgery is responsible for major equipment assembly, cleaning, room set-up, cleaning and turnover between OR cases within Perioperative Services.
Essential Functions:
•Collaboration and works with the surgical team to assure all equipment is present for service cases.
•Planning the availability of critical equipment, supplies and tables to set up an operating room.
•Provide support to the care team for set-up, maintenance and cleaning of the equipment before and after use.
•Assistance in the set-up and turnover cleaning of the equipment and the OR suite.
•Coordinates with Biomedical Engineering and OR Leadership to maintain specialty equipment.
•Creates and maintains inventory of service specific related equipment.
•Develops system to track and verify borrowed equipment is returned.
•Provide training for surgical aide team regarding equipment handling.
Qualifications
Qualifications:
Education
•High School Graduate or Equivalent
Experience
•CNA/PCA, instrument processing, biomed or similar experience preferred; Previous OR experience preferred
Knowdelge and Skills
•Infection Control Standards, Equipment Operations
•Push, Pull of Major OR Equipment and Technology
