The P.C. Rossin College of Engineering & Applied Science at Lehigh University invites applications for an open-rank tenure-track faculty position in the area of Assistive Technology for Disabilities with an anticipated start date of July 1, 2025. The position is aligned with the ongoing Disability Interdependence across the Lifespan using Assistive Technology (DILAT) initiative. Applicants are required to possess an earned Ph.D. in Bioengineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or another relevant engineering discipline by the date of hire. The primary departmental affiliation for this position within the Rossin College will be determined based on the alignment of expertise and interests between the candidate and the department.

This search seeks candidates who have interdisciplinary expertise and a strong track record of productivity and publishing in one or more of the following research areas: wearable medical devices, robotics, smart assistive devices, rehabilitation devices, prosthetics, and computational approaches to assistive technologies for disabled populations. The successful candidate will be expected to develop platform technologies that can be adapted to address physical, sensory, cognitive, and developmental disabilities across the lifespan.

This position is aligned with Lehigh's strategic research investment in interdisciplinary approaches to improving health through assessments and interventions that occur outside of traditional healthcare settings. This position will leverage collaborations and resources within Lehigh's College of Health and additional key investments made by the University in the new Health, Science, and Technology (HST) building, a hub of interdisciplinary health/biomedicine research. The successful candidate will be expected to teach undergraduate and graduate courses in the affiliated department and contribute to departmental, college, and university service. Candidates must also be committed to the enhancement of a diverse, equitable, and inclusive environment in which world-class faculty, staff, and students can thrive to their full potential.

The Rossin College comprises eight departments, including Bioengineering, Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering, Civil and Environmental Engineering, Computer Science and Engineering, Electrical and Computer Engineering, Industrial and Systems Engineering, Materials Science and Engineering, and Mechanical Engineering and Mechanics. The College offers cross-college honors programs with the College of Business and the College of Arts and Sciences. Comprising about 130 tenure-track and 30 teaching faculty, the RCEAS enrolls approximately 2,000 undergraduates and 800 graduate students. The College engages in diverse research and is committed to supporting an inclusive and welcoming culture for all community members.
