JOB DESCRIPTION

The Wood Transmission and Distribution team provides HV OHL design supporting construction, procurement, and consultancy on a variety of projects within the sector. Due to significant growth across our Transmission and Distribution business Wood has a unique opportunity for Overhead line designers keen to broaden their expertise and work on international projects. We are creating our global engineering delivery network to support major upgrade and new build projects and are seeking resources for our team in the Central Florida area.

This role will suit someone looking for the opportunity to develop their technical expertise. It will provide the solid fundamental understanding of HV OHL design supporting construction, procurement, and consultancy on a variety of projects and will support professional development and recognition within the sector. Purpose of the Position:

Production and quality of design outputs assigned, delivered against the allocated programme and budget to support our OHL construction and consulting needs.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Key Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Complete Overhead line design studies to support construction and consultancy projects.
  • Set up and develop Transmission Overhead line engineering models.
  • Produce Electrical Line performance assessments and all electrical safety studies
  • Produce or utilise OHL support models within the transmission design models.
  • Evaluate, select, and quantify transmission line components on projects.
  • Support safety by design assessments throughout the design process.
  • Integrate and support the development of innovation within project solutions.
  • Create design deliverables to confirm the outputs of the engineering studies to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ensure, as far as practicable, that all assigned work is carried out in compliance with the agreed budget and programme.
  • Keep up to date with all technical quality management procedures, developments and specifications related to the discipline work scope.


QUALIFICATIONS

Essential Qualifications:
  • Basic understanding of Overhead Transmission line design.
  • Ability to utilise PLS CADD/ Tower to develop design outputs
  • Awareness of key Health and Safety impacts on OHL construction contracts.
  • Fluent spoken and written English language.
  • Ability to work as part of a dispersed and remote team and be able to communicate through collaboration software such as Microsoft teams.
  • Engineering Degree, in related discipline.
Desired Qualifications:
  • Ability of use CAD design software.
  • Ability to create PLS CADD Models from topographical survey data.
