Job Description Summary
Under direct supervision of the Senior Manager Clinical Marketing Programs and Events, Marketing Communications, and as part of the US MDS business unit marketing communications team, this position of Manager Strategic Events is responsible for the overall external event and meeting strategy and execution and the planning and implementation of effective customer conventions and programs. This person will determine tradeshow and event strategies that support the company's strategic sales and marketing plans and help formulate the appropriate activities to meet our marketing objectives. This position will work closely with the Marketing and Sales team to help execute all marketing events and initiatives.

Crucial Duties and Responsibilities
- Collaborate with sales and marketing collaborators to develop strategic plans and annual calendar for event execution with clear success measures that align to business objectives.
- Plan, handle, and complete all national level and local/regional level events for the US MDS business (approx. 12-15 tradeshows per year, 30-40 local/regional events per year).
- Handle vendor and association relationships, negotiate contracts, and supervise all event activities including but not limited to, housing, badges & food/beverage.
- Approve design, layout, cost estimates and construction of exhibits and displays.
- Work with creative agency on messaging, artwork and promotional materials for events including but not limited to, email campaigns, social media, communications to the field, pre and post meeting notices.
- Clearly connect with business partners and planning team members on project plans, creative and execution strategy, and project status.
- Partner with Digital Marketing Team to identify and supervise leads within the BD MarTech Stack.
- Maintain tracking of all shows and events and related expenses. Continuously identify areas for efficiencies and improvements. Make recommendations for streamlining events, cost-savings, and stronger strategic alignment across functions.
- Conduct post-event analysis, sharing insights and finding opportunities to improve year over year.
Qualifications, Skills and Knowledge
- 5-7+ years of event planning experience
- Bachelor's degree in event planning, hospitality, marketing, or related areas
- Certified Meeting Professional (CMP) preferred
- Excellent organizational, time management, logistical planning and execution skills are critical
- Can deliver on tight-deadlines, on-budget
- Strong project management and critical thinking skills
- High ability to work independently with limited supervision
- Self-starter with ability to work under pressure
- Positive and collaborative teammate
- Ability to travel is required
- Experience in:
- Sourcing and booking venues
- Procuring and liaising with vendors and suppliers
- Negotiating quotes, contracts, and agreements
- Handling logistics and on-site crew and event management
- Budgeting and invoicing
- Solutioning and reporting event metrics
