Opportunity
Under the leadership of the Director of Aftermarket, the Manager - Sales & Application Training will be responsible for assessing the development needs of the various channel partners and related customers. The role will manage and develop appropriate curriculum and educational support materials to drive a consistent brand experience regardless of channel or product. Curriculum and educational strategies shall support dealer development, selling skills, product application, and service effectiveness across channel partners. Key objectives include identifying the needs, implementing curriculum and measuring performance. Educational and channel development programs will create a professional learning environment to increase knowledge retention and form a best-in-class channel network.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES
- Manage the development of curriculum and educational materials for all products and channels using the appropriate subject matter experts and/or external partners. Update educational programs based on new channel/product opportunities. All content initiatives will evolve around creating a professional interactive experience regardless of delivery (e.g. classroom in-person, on-line or self-directed). Online content will be designed to be easily updated when needed and will maintain a consistent Home Energy brand.
- The role will work collaboratively across multiple departments to ensure continuity between the educational programs being created and provide guidance on the design and interactive experiences being offered through a blended delivery strategy.
- Develop and deploy educational strategies that include train-the-trainer initiatives and content creation through advisory council feedback. Programs will include channel partner business design, development, and effective operations to elevate channel partner performance.
- Develops and implements performance-based assessment tools that identify gaps between target audience skill level and the job competencies within the various channel partners. Assessment tools will also ensure that the curriculum meets the needs of the channel partners via 360 feedback.
- Defines the outcomes of learning experiences and the means to achieve them through measurable objectives tied to financial and strategic objectives. Will modify educational curriculum and events as needed.
- Identifies appropriate learning and delivery methodologies---current and future---and builds structures to effectively deploy them with both a local and distance learning strategy. A large focus will be placed on interactive learning tools that can be easily modified and updated to accommodate different sales channels, business partners and associates.
- Evaluates, selects, collaborates and provides feedback to external training vendors and consultants when outside sources are sought to create or expand new or existing materials or educational tools. Will attend relevant trade shows and conferences to maintain best-in-class educational and channel development programs.
- Ensures that the logistics for all learning experiences are efficient and high quality; oversees selection of locations, catering, purchase and utilization of materials, supplies and equipment where applicable.
- Responsible for utilizing existing training tools available through Kohler Energy, and when needed, acquiring new programs, formats, or materials from outside vendors that will provide measurable results and are in line with channel development planning.
SUPERVISORY RELATIONSHIPS
- Reports to Director, Aftermarket Parts and Services (AMPS).
- Positions reporting directly to this role to be defined with business growth.
RELATIONSHIPS AND CONTACTS
- Supervisory Relationships: Reports to the Director-AMPS, Home Energy
Organization Relationships:
- Constant contact with members of the Home Energy Leadership Team and various stakeholders.
- Constant contact with product management, channel management, sales, marketing, and aftermarket departments.
- Occasional contact with Kohler Energy business units outside of Home Energy for exploration of synergies or sharing of best practices.
External Business Relationships:
- Frequent contact with channel partners and in-market training centers.
- Frequent contact with consultants and learning management system platform provider.
- Occasional contact with ERP and CRM system providers
Skills/Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in business administration, education, or related field required.
- 5-8 years' experience managing an educational function preferred.
- 3-5 years' experience designing and implementing interactive, engaging educational programs for adult learners preferred; excellent facilitation skills required.
- Requires a demonstrated aptitude for strategic thinking, creativity, and deploying educational strategies linked to business outcomes.
- Performance management, succession planning, e-Learning, and sales training experience is required.
- Proven leadership skills, with direct people management as well as mentoring/coaching skills.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills, with presentation experience at all management levels.
- Strong organizational skills, with the ability to manage concurrent cross-functional projects.
- Proficiency in MS products required, experience with Articulate 360 content authoring software preferred.
- Ability to travel to in-market training centers, vendors, manufacturing facilities, remote offices, or other locations 15% to 25% of time.

The salary range for this position is $89800 - $114100. The specific salary offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors including the candidate's experience, their education, and the work location.
