Job Title:Legal Administrative AssistantDepartment:Law | Law Reserve

The Moritz College of Law is seeking a high performing individual to coordinate the Clinical Programs legal office and provide efficient paralegal services. The position provides critical support to a legal clinic of approximately 8-9 full-time clinic faculty teaching approximately 60 law student interns per semester, who collectively provide a range of legal services to external clients. The position performs various legal and paralegal tasks of a confidential nature, including assisting in preparing court briefs, legal correspondence, government filings, and other documents; maintaining client files in both electronic and paper formats; scheduling meetings and maintaining multiple appointment calendars; checking for potential conflicts of interest among clients; managing clinical programs' IOLTA (client trust fund) account; and conducting initial screening of potential clients. The position supports clinic faculty in preparing teaching materials, evaluating student work, conducting research activities, and fulfilling College of Law committee responsibilities. The position serves as a legal secretary, receptionist, Notary Public, and office coordinator for the clinical programs office, including overseeing maintenance and upkeep of office equipment; procuring supplies; arranging faculty travel and completing reimbursement requests; assisting in planning events; processing mail; processing law students' applications for Ohio Supreme Court Legal Intern Certificates; and helping teach law students to use electronic case management software. The position works with the director of clinical programs to manage the clinic budget and implement clinic policies. The position recruits and supervises the work of 1-2 student employees to assist with the above tasks and other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

High school degree and 2 years of legal secretary or paralegal experience required or an equivalent combination of education and experience; current Ohio Notary Public commission or ability to obtain within 60 days from hire date; strong analytical, organizational, time management, and interpersonal skills; ability to multi-task and solve problems; a commitment to excellence with excellent judgment with regard to people and priorities; proficiency with Microsoft office software (e.g. Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint); self-starter, and ability to work independently.

Desired Qualifications:

Competency in Spanish; experience as a paralegal/certification; experience with electronic filing of pleadings; working knowledge of CLIO case management software.

Additional Information:

This is a 100% in person position located on the Columbus, Ohio campus. The work schedule is Monday-Fridays from 8am-5pm. The target hiring range is $21.11-$27.77 per hour. The actual salary will be within this range based on the candidate's qualifications, internal equity, and the unit's available budget.
