Zoetis Reference Laboratory is seeking a motivated individual looking to continue their career in a laboratory setting. The ideal candidate would have a laboratory background and a general understanding of veterinary diagnostics. This position is for individuals looking to grow their careers.
Lab Technicians work in laboratories to facilitate testing and research. Their role is to support other laboratory employees by maintaining a sterile environment, organizing logbooks, labeling and storing samples, and managing stock. Lab Technicians set up, calibrate, and troubleshoot equipment to ensure accurate testing. They can perform diagnostic tests on different scientific and medical samples or assist other laboratory employees in measuring and reporting the qualities of various substances. They also perform quality-control tests and audit lab logbooks to ensure proper procedures. Lab Technicians maintain an understanding of biohazard safety and dispose of hazardous waste.
Role Description
• Demonstrated ability to build, develop, and work within a clinical laboratory team, including creative problem-solving and flexibility to meet rapid growth.
• IT and LIS (laboratory information systems) experience and general comfort level with computer systems, technology, and equipment interfaces.
• Able to read and understand Standard Operating Procedures, troubleshoot sophisticated laboratory instruments promptly, and have a working knowledge of LIS procedures.
• Team leadership, friendly, and loves a challenge.
• Strong interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills required.
• Robust organizational and time management skills.
• Ability to work in fast paced STAT environment.
• Strong computer skills and ability to work within Windows and Laboratory Information System environment
• Proficient knowledge of Hematology, Chemistry, Urinalysis, fluid analysis
• Experience with 2-3 of the following instruments: Advia 2120i, Immulite 2000 XPi, AU680/5800, Clinitek Advantus, or Stago STarT.
• Must be available for evenings as needed and rotating weekends.

• Ability to work in a fast-paced STAT environment.
• Experience in the veterinary field strongly preferred, but not required. Other experience considered as applicable.
Physical and Time requirements:
• Able to sit and stand for long periods
• Able to lift to 50lbs
• Flexible hours and overtime may be required
• SHIFT TIMES: Monday - Friday 9:00 PM - 5:30 AM or Tuesday - Friday 5:00AM - 3:30PM with rotating weekends (subject to change)
