SUMMARY

Bering Straits Native Corporation is currently seeking a qualified BSNC Shareholder or Descendent of a Shareholder to fill an IT Support Generalist postion for the Information Technology Department in Anchorage, Alaska. This entry-level technical position is responsible for maintaining high-quality IT services and support for our Users. Our goal is to deliver excellent technical and non-technical support with exceptional customer service and follow-through. This position is part of the Information Technology team so candidates must be passionate about technology, highly skilled at providing amazing customer service, and can thrive in a fast paced and high-pressure environment.
Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

The Essential Duties and Responsibilities are intended to present a descriptive list of the range of duties performed for this position and are not intended to reflect all duties performed within the job. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Provide Help Desk support and resolve problems to the end user's satisfaction.
  • Monitor and respond quickly and effectively to requests received through the IT Help Desk.
  • Monitor Service Desk for tickets assigned to the queue and process first-in first-out based on priority.
  • Modify configurations, utilities, software default settings, etc. for the local workstation.
  • Utilize and maintain the Help Desk tracking software.
  • Document internal procedures.
  • Assist with onboarding of new users.
  • Ensure each workstation has a computer, monitor, keyboard, mouse, hard drive, and any additional specialized equipment.
  • Install, test, and configure new workstations, peripheral equipment, and software.
  • Maintain inventory of all equipment, software, and software licenses.
  • Report issues to the Service Desk for escalation.
  • Manage PC setup and deployment for new employees using standard hardware, images, and software.
  • Assign users and computers to proper groups in Active Directory.
  • Perform timely workstation hardware and software upgrades as needed.

Required (Minimum) Qualifications
  • Verified BSNC Shareholder or Shareholder Descendant
  • Demonstrable knowledge of basic of applications and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience with ticketing systems (preferred).

Essential and marginal functions may require maintaining physical condition necessary for bending, stooping, sitting, walking or standing for prolonged periods of time; most of time is spent sitting in a comfortable position with frequent opportunity to move about.

DOT COVERED/SAFETY-SENSITIVE ROLE REQUIREMENTS
  • This position is not subject to federal requirements regarding Department of Transportation "safety-sensitive" functions.
WORK ENVIRONMENT

Work Environment characteristics described here are representative of those that must be borne by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

Job is performed in an office setting with exposure to computer screens and requires extensive use of a computer, keyboard, mouse and multi-line telephone system. The work described herein is primarily a modern office setting. Occasional travel may be required.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • No supervisory responsibilities.
ADDITIONAL QUALIFYING FACTORS

As a condition of employment, may be required to pass a pre-employment drug screening, as well as have acceptable reference and background check results to obtain access to military base. Must have reliable transportation to/from work a necessity and must be able to obtain access to military installations.
