Fred Smith Company is currently searching for an experienced Grade Foreman for our Central/Public Division. We are a heavy civil contractor working in the commercial site work, public infrastructure and asphalt markets in North Carolina. Pay will be commensurate with experience; all employees are eligible after 90 days for benefits such as health, dental and vision insurance and paid time off. All candidates must have a valid driver's license with positive driving history.

Basic Duties:

  • Responsible for the safe and efficient management of the crew and equipment on all assigned projects.
  • Maintain all logs, daily reports and ensure that all time records are accurately entered each day.
  • Ensure that personnel and sub-contractors are complying with company safety policies and procedures.
  • Perform daily JSA meetings with the project teams and conduct weekly Toolbox Talks.
  • Assist and direct crews in the use of equipment and resources.
  • Manage quality of work, productivity and costs associated with the project.
  • Maintain good relations with the public, engineers, inspectors and the customer.
    Requirements
  • Minimum of 2 years' experience as a Foreman
  • Previous self-perform experience with grading and site work operations, water/sewer/storm drain construction, asphalt paving.
  • Experience with plans and crew and equipment scheduling.
