SUMMARY
The Forklift Operator/Material Handler position will operate a forklift to stack, relocate, and move goods, supplies and materials from one place to another. The operator is accountable for the safe and efficient operation of the vehicle (i.e. forklift, boom, scoop, lift beam and swivel hook, fork-grapple, clamps, elevating platform etc.) and may also be required to perform operator duties.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:
- Picks up and delivers parts and materials between production lines.
- Picks up and delivers parts and materials from shipping/receiving and the warehouse.
- Maintains orderly WIP in the plant by stacking material in approved areas.
- Delivers production material and parts as requested to the designated production line.
- Efficient use of the computer, especially SAP and label programs.
Shipping activities including:
- Preparation of shipments utilizing an RF scanner or UPS/FedX computer sytem.
- Proper application of customer shipping labels during shipment preparation.
- Creating shipping documents as necessary.
- Unloading and Loading of trailers in a timely manner to meet customer mandated window times.
- Coordinating the proper allotment of customer paperwork to the truck drivers and ensuring signatures are in the appropriate areas on shipping documents.
- Coordinating the proper storage of finished goods utilizing an RF scanner.
- Learns and uses SAP to adjust shipping documents if needed.
Receiving activities including:
- Unloading, verifying receiving documents and properly receiving in raw materials utilizing an RF scanner or UPS/FedX computer system
- Cross checking receipts to ensure accuracy of materials and quantities
- Picking material in a timely manner for production usage
- Utilizing SAP to create production for customer pass thru parts
- Assist with processing inbound and outbound UPS, FEDEX or any other small parcel carrier
- Document and communicate supplier failures that affect receiving in product accurately
- JIT (Returnable Containers) activities including:
- Unloading of customer trailers in a timely manner to ensure window times are met in the shipping warehouse.
- Cleaning of customer containers to ensure no disruption during production usage of containers.
- Ensuring containers are stored in designated area within the JIT area.
- Assist with loading and unloading customer trailers in the shipping warehouse.
- Assists Operations Support as necessary with the movement of injection molds, machines and other equipment.
- Promote a clean, safe and positive work environment in accordance with 5S standards.
- Must understand and follow all safety rules in regard to lift truck safety.
- Actively communicate with Supervisors and operators to effectively handle materials.
- Maintain clean, organized, safe working environment with equipment and materials located in proper locations in accordance with 5S standards inside and outside of facility.
- Ability to work all designated shifts.
- Excellent attendance record.
- Ability to work in a team environment.
- Other duties as assigned.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIESThis position has no supervisory responsibilities.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
- High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) is required.
- 2 to 3 years of experience safely operating a forklift in a manufacturing environment.
- Must have valid state issued license to operate a motor vehicle.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLSAbility to use a hand held calculator to add, subtract, multiply and divide numbers in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent.

- Must be able to satisfactorily complete forklift training, including written and driving test and be issued a forklift license.

Required to frequently lift up to 50 lbs. (unassisted when necessary).
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, depth perception, peripheral vision and ability to adjust focus.
WORK ENVIRONMENTWhile performing the duties of the job, may work prolonged periods under high heat and humid conditions inside the facility. While outside the facility, exposed to the natural elements such heat, rain, and snow. May be exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, and vibration.
The environment in manufacturing plants and testing labs are often loud, hot, and with particulates in the air. Working environment may contain potentially hazardous materials such as acids, solvents, oils, and common etchants. In such environments, adherence to PPE regulations is required.
OVERTIMEEmployees must be able to work additional hours and/or additional days during the payroll week, which can and will be in excess of forty (40) hours per payroll week. Working overtime is a condition of employment.
TRAVELDomestic travel with/without overnight stay may be required.
