As the Federal and State Financial Aid Coordinator, you will be at the forefront of ensuring the seamless distribution of financial aid resources, both at the federal and state levels. You'll serve as a vital link between federal financial aid programs and state-specific initiatives, working tirelessly to ensure that every eligible student has access to the support they need to excel academically.

But that's not all - this role goes beyond the traditional confines of campus, as you'll also play a crucial part in our Corrections Education Program (CEP). This means you'll have the unique opportunity to travel to correctional facilities, extending your expertise to incarcerated individuals seeking to better themselves through education.

Essential Functions

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Program Management and Coordination:
  • Under supervision of the Director of Financial aid, oversee the administration of federal financial aid programs, including Pell Grants, Federal Work-Study, and Direct Loans, in coordination with relevant federal agencies.
  • Collaborate with state financial aid agencies to align state-level financial aid programs with federal initiatives and regulations.
  • Develop and recommend policies, procedures, and systems to streamline the delivery of financial aid resources to eligible students.

  • Financial Aid Counseling and Advising:
  • Provide guidance and support to students and families on navigating the financial aid process, including completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and accessing state-specific financial aid programs. This includes students in our Corrections Education Program (CEP), which may require entrance into correction facilities.
  • Conduct outreach and educational efforts to increase awareness of available financial aid resources and promote financial literacy among students and families.
  • Create and manage communication flows to prospects/applicants to encourage application and assisting through the admission process

  • Compliance and Regulatory Oversight:
  • Ensure compliance with federal regulations, state statutes, and institutional policies governing the administration of financial aid programs.
  • Monitor changes in federal and state financial aid policies and regulations and communicate updates to relevant stakeholders.
  • Prepare and submit required reports, data, and documentation to federal and state agencies in a timely and accurate manner.

  • Data Analysis and Performance Monitoring:
  • Work with internal partners on Federal and State reconciliation.
  • Use data insights to identify trends, assess program effectiveness, and inform decision-making processes aimed at improving the delivery of financial aid services.
  • Collaborate with institutional research offices and other stakeholders to develop dashboards and reports for monitoring key performance indicators.

  • Responsible for understanding, supporting and actively demonstrating the College's beliefs, values, mission, and vision and agreeing to be evaluated by same.

  • SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
    This position does not have supervisory responsibilities.

    CONTACTS AND PURPOSE OF CONTACTS
    Internal: Frequent contact with student development, business office, and information technology staff in information sharing/gathering and problem-solving capacity. Regular contact and collaborative work with other staff, faculty, and administration members.

    External: Frequent contact with students and parents often in stressful situations Regular contact with the public and prospective students in a service providing capacity. Some contact may be required with the U.S. Department of Education Federal Pell Grant Program.Minimum Qualifications

    QUALIFICATIONS
    To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to satisfactorily perform each essential duty and responsibility.     Required:
    * Bachelor's degree in education, business administration, or a related field required.
    * Excellent interpersonal, communication, and customer service skills.
    * Strong analytical skills and proficiency in data analysis tools and software.
    * Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and effectively manage competing priorities.
    * Knowledge of office software including Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook

    Preferred:
    * Minimum of three years of experience working in financial aid, student services, higher education, or a related field preferred.
    * Thorough understanding of federal financial aid regulations, state financial aid policies, and institutional compliance requirements preferred.
    * Familiarity with student information systems (SIS), financial aid management systems (FAMS), and other relevant technology platforms preferred.

    Other Skills and Abilities
    Ability to organize complex technical information and data. Ability to deal effectively with students and the public. Ability to work extensively with Colleague and with personal computers. . Ability to assume decision-making responsibilities with minimum supervision.

    Language Skills
    Ability to read and interpret documents such as rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively with groups of customers or employees of organizations.

    Reasoning Ability
    Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, and diagram or schedule form.
