In this role you will: offer support on large-scale capital projects within the Poultry, Fresh Meats and Prepared Foods manufacturing networks and the Warehousing & Transportation network focusing primarily on Mechanical functions, offer expertise in our internal specifications and standards, and offer support and guidance to new BU Discipline Engineers.
What we need you to do:
- Enterprise Engineering (Center of Excellence and BUs) subject matter expert for Mechanical.
- Ensure projects, initiatives, and processes are in conformance with Tyson Foods' established policies and objectives while meeting all code and regulatory requirements.
- Establish and maintain Mechanical specifications, standards, and other technical information in collaboration with other corporate functional areas.
- Review project estimating, as needed.
- Review project metrics for reasonableness, improve project control through process improvement and user training.
- Guide and assist Operations and Bu Engineering teams to adhere to Tyson Foods' design specifications and standards.
- Create ad-hoc reports, analysis, and presentations as requested/needed.
- Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent work experience, from an accredited institution.
- Minimum 10 years of applicable engineering experience.
- Advanced knowledge and working use of computer programs, including spreadsheets, databases.
- Excellent communication skills to multiple internal department leaders, plant, and warehouse leadership.
- Proficient knowledge and experience in the analysis, design, and detailing of mechanical components and systems within a food manufacturing facility using multiple metallic materials such as carbon steel, stainless steel, and alloys; extensive experience in the analysis, design, and detailing of complex mechanical systems in seismic regions; proficient knowledge and experience in the design of various mechanical foundation systems; thorough understanding of building codes, use and occupancy classifications, ADA requirements, and egress requirements, including limiting areas, rated separations, and fire suppression systems; specialized knowledge and experience in the design and detailing of low-temperature food processing and industrial buildings, including insulated metal panels.
- Ability to work independently with minimal direction. Strong organizational and time management skills.
Additional Preferred Qualifications:
- PE licensure, or working to obtaining licensure
- CAD, Revit, Risa, and/or other design software systems
Travel:- Up to 15-20%, multi-days stays required; ability to egress uneven surfaces in construction and plant environments safely and easily.
