Job Description:
This is work as a skilled electrician in the performance of safety inspection/training and/or intermediate-level facility maintenance activities.

Work is typically labor intensive and requires general supervision in the areas of electrical as well as plumbing, carpentry work, welding, masonry, building repair and maintenance, safety inspection/training or heating, cooling, and ventilation work. Positions at this level receive verbal instruction on the work that needs to be accomplished, general direction on what steps to take to accomplish the work and an expectation of ow long the work should take to complete. Decision-making authority is limited to prescribed limits and parameters based on the work task or operation. Hours are 7:00am-3:30pm. Monday-Friday, with on-call rotation.

***$3/hour differential for hours worked. $200 commuting bonus if driving 30+ miles one way

Examples of work: Perform skilled electrical work in the major renovation and construction of building structures. Check and repair all electrical equipment to ensure its safety and good working condition. Replace switches, receptacles, wiring, cords, etc. Perform work with test meters following correct procedures. Perform preventative maintenance work as well as skilled work on heating, cooling and building control systems.

Knowledge of: Various electrical materials and systems, methods practices, materials and tools of the electrical trade; various building and mechanical trades; telephone and data transmission system layouts.

Skill in: Soldering NG and repair of electronic equipment; using a variety of hand a power tools common in the electrical and skilled trades.

Ability to: Read blueprints and schematics; read and understand the National Electrical Code and other relevant regulatory and life safety codes; communicate orally and/or writing effectively; work in confined spaces. Must be able to work flexible hours and respond to emergencies while on call within 1 hour or less. Must be willing to attend and participate in continuing educational programs.

Requirements/Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications: Possession of a Nebraska Journeyman Electrical license OR Electrical Contractor license or eligibility to become licensed in Nebraska.
