Responsibilities:
• Design and execute project-specific industrial control systems, beginning with proposals, specifications, and drawings.
• Collaborate with other engineering resources on the mechanical execution of control systems.
• Create, document, and maintain precise Engineering Bills of Materials and Electrical Schematics.
• Evaluate standards and compliance requirements relevant to the electrical control systems and provide necessary recommendations.
• Apply a robust understanding of PLC programming, electrical, and control systems to design and repair plant electrical control systems.
• Offer guidance and participate in the preventive and predictive upkeep of the electrical and control systems.
• Assess and analyze control processes to pinpoint opportunities to enhance plant value.
• Lead the development and execution of strategies for targeted equipment enhancements, leveraging both new and existing automation and control technologies for short and long-term solutions.
• Support the maintenance and management team in process enhancements while promoting and fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
• Collaborate with departments and external electrical vendors to troubleshoot and resolve issues.
• Ensure plant equipment control systems operate efficiently and comply with safety regulations.
• Offer guidance for the safe installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of electrical control systems, including machinery and equipment components.
Qualifications:
• BSEE or related Bachelor's Engineering degree, or Associate's Engineering degree with equivalent experience.
• 5 years of relevant experience in the design, manufacture, installation, and field support of custom industrial/capital equipment.
• Solid experience in PLC design and implementation.
• Direct experience with Allen-Bradley/Rockwell components and software, including CompactLogix PLC, MicroLogix 1400 PLC, PanelView Plus HMI, PowerFlex Series Inverters, Kinetic Series Servos, RSLogix 5000 Software, RSLogix 500 Software, Factory Talk View Studio Software, and Siemens PLC software (S7-200; S7-300).
• Experience directly working with the design, installation, and support of electrical and control systems.
• Proficiency in the current release of AutoCAD and AutoCAD Electrical.
• Experience with the development and maintenance of structured bills of material.
• Working knowledge of Codes and Standards (NEC, IEC, UL 508A, NFPA 70E, Category 3 Safety).
• Experience with power distribution (120V, 230V, 480V, 3 phase systems and 120V, 24V DC Control Systems).
• Working knowledge of hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
• Experience with the installation and troubleshooting of Variable Frequency Drives.
• Experience with the installation and troubleshooting of heat treating controls, power controls, and PID controls.
• Ability to assist maintenance personnel with troubleshooting electrical control circuits, motor control, and safety control circuits.
