We are seeking an experienced and visionary Director of Bioinformatics and Computational Biology to lead and expand our bioinformatics team. This role is crucial to the development of innovative analysis and design tools for next-generation sequencing (NGS), gene editing, and synthetic biology applications. The successful candidate will work closely with cross-functional teams, including molecular biology and software engineering, to ensure that our bioinformatics solutions are robust, scalable, and user-friendly, empowering researchers to accelerate their scientific discoveries.

In this role, you will have the opportunity to:

• Lead the bioinformatics team in developing and maintaining cutting-edge tools for design and analysis in NGS, gene editing, and synthetic biology.
• Collaborate with senior leadership to define the strategic direction of bioinformatics initiatives aligned with company goals and customer needs.
• Build and mentor a high-performing team of bioinformaticians and data scientists, fostering a collaborative and innovative culture.
• Foster cross-functional collaboration between bioinformatics, molecular biology, software engineering, and customer support teams to ensure seamless integration of bioinformatics solutions.
• Stay abreast of the latest advancements in bioinformatics, computational biology, and related technologies, and drive the incorporation of these advancements into our products.
• Act as a liaison between external collaborators, academic institutions, and industry partners to leverage external innovations and enhance the company's bioinformatics capabilities.
• Support customers in the adoption and use of our bioinformatics solutions, providing expertise and troubleshooting as needed.

The essential requirements of the job include:

• Ph.D. in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Molecular Biology, or a related field
• 8+ years of experience in bioinformatics, preferably in the life sciences industry.
• 5+ years experience in leading and managing bioinformatics teams and projects, with a track record of delivering high-quality bioinformatics and computational biology tools and solutions in NGS, gene editing, and/or synthetic biology.
• Experience with cloud computing, high-performance computing (HPC), and data management for large-scale biological datasets.
• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to translate complex technical concepts into practical solutions for diverse stakeholders.
• A collaborative mindset with a passion for innovation and problem-solving in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

Preferred Qualifications

• Prior experience with customer-facing roles, including technical support and user training.
• Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, R, and experience with bioinformatics tools (e.g., BLAST, GATK, STAR, etc.).
