Position Overview:
The Cost Lead is responsible for all aspects of cost control including trending, cost and schedule analysis, forecasting, change control, cash flow, and reporting. This position will review project costs incurred by category, calculate future costs based on labor productivity, material price increases, subcontract, wage rates, schedule development, schedule analysis and risk analysis. Additionally, this role is accountable for the performance and results of multiple related disciplines or sub-groups within the Project Controls function and will manage the delivery of functional objectives by providing leadership and direction to managers or professional staff. As a Lead, this role may direct resources, prioritize tasks, and/or provide guidance to less experienced team members.
Responsibilities:
- Manage interfaces of various EPC Contractors' Project Controls Counterparts.
- Ensure the validation and completion of job progress milestones, project controls systems and processes are implemented and continue to deliver accurate project status & that project cost and schedule data and reports are accurate.
- Collaborate with procurement, material managers, & engineering workgroup leads pertaining to essential items of supply.
- Provide priorities for projects to guarantee completion.
- Contribute to forecasts and disbursements by performing schedule analysis.
- Use judgment to interpret internal and external issues and develop best practices.
- Oversee the project's, cost controls, change management, forecasting, and reporting efforts.
- Drive effective execution of project control functions on various capital projects.
- Evaluate project health status and maintain effective communication with project leadership.
- Assess project contracts and commercial terms to ensure that the project controls processes are aligned to address specific needs.
- Coordinate & communicate with engineering, construction, and procurement on project activities and inputs & all stakeholders - including client, subcontractors, and joint venture partners on data integration and reporting.
Education and ExperienceRequired Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's Degree required.
- 10+ years of experience in Cost, Scheduling, and Estimating with an emphasis on the following areas: Construction Management, Project Controls, and/or Large-Scale/Mega Projects ($200M+).
- Proven ability with project health assessments, budget development, cost analysis, forecasting & variance reporting techniques.
- Must be able to manage analytical & data centric project controls.
- Must be able to self-lead & communicate to all levels of project team including management & clients.
- Provide Cross-Functional Leadership to drive successful project execution
Preferred Education and Experience:
- Advanced Microsoft Office skills including reporting through Power BI
- Active Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification
- AACE Certification
- Interest & ability to achieve these certifications beneficial
