Position Description
The Tyson Foods Business Unit legal group is looking to add a new member to its team. This position will be responsible for providing day-to-day legal advice and support to our Prepared Foods Business Unit. The ideal candidate will also work across all the various business units to assess risk and provide counsel on all aspects of advertising, promotions, and intellectual property matters.
Critical thinking, sound judgment, and the ability to collaborate seamlessly within Tyson Foods legal department are essential attributes for success in this role.
Candidates must also demonstrate executive presence, strategic problem-solving, familiarity with commercial legal issues, and professionalism to earn the trust of the company's senior management team.
Responsibilities
- Provide ongoing legal assistance related to functions and regulations impacting the Prepared Foods Business Unit
- Help the Prepared Foods Business Unit mitigate risks and reduce liability while ensuring alignment with business priorities
- Counsel the business on legal concepts, practices, and procedures applicable to commercial contracts, compliance, disputes, and state and federal regulatory and trade practices
- Review advertising materials to ensure compliance with applicable laws, industry guidelines, company policies, and brand requirements
- Advise marketing teams on social media issues, including disclosure requirements and endorsement guidelines
- Assist in negotiating and drafting agreements related to advertising, marketing, and intellectual property
- Facilitate client education and training on legal and regulatory requirements
RequirementsLaw degree from an ABA accredited law school and a license to practice law in at least one jurisdiction.
ExperienceFour plus years of legal experience or equivalent combination of experience, specialized certification, licensure or advanced degree.
Experience with legal research and advising business clients across multiple lines to ensure risk mitigation while achieving business goals. Experience within the food industry or other highly regulated industries is a plus.
Communication Skills Superior written and verbal communication skills.

Additionally, you must effectively communicate with and respond to clients in a timely manner, exercising good judgment in all tasks.
