Position Overview
The Controller is responsible for overseeing the financial operations of the organization, ensuring the accuracy of financial records, and providing strategic financial guidance. This role involves managing the accounting department, developing financial policies, and implementing best practices in financial management. The Controller reports directly to the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) and works closely with other senior leaders to support the company's financial objectives and growth.
Key Responsibilities

  • Financial Management and Reporting
    • Oversee the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
    • Ensure compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
    • Monitor financial performance by analyzing financial data and generating reports.
    • Develop and implement internal controls to safeguard company assets.
  • Budgeting and Forecasting
    • Lead the annual budgeting process, working with department heads to develop and manage budgets.
    • Prepare financial forecasts and projections to support strategic planning.
    • Analyze variances between actual results and budgeted figures, providing insights and recommendations.
  • Accounting Operations
    • Manage all accounting functions, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and general ledger.
    • Ensure timely and accurate month-end and year-end close processes.
    • Coordinate audits and liaise with external auditors to ensure compliance and accuracy.
  • Financial Planning and Analysis
    • Conduct financial analysis to identify trends, risks, and opportunities.
    • Provide strategic financial guidance to senior management to inform decision-making.
    • Develop financial models to support business initiatives and evaluate potential investments.
  • Compliance and Risk Management
    • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal financial regulations and reporting requirements.
    • Identify and mitigate financial risks through effective risk management strategies.
    • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of regulatory changes and ensure the organization's compliance.
  • Team Leadership and Development
    • Lead and mentor the accounting team, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and professional growth.
    • Develop and implement training programs to enhance the skills and capabilities of the finance team.
    • Conduct performance evaluations and provide constructive feedback.
    Qualifications
    • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA or CMA certification preferred.
    • Minimum of 7-10 years of progressive accounting experience, including managerial experience.
    • In-depth knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting requirements.
    • Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite; experience with ERP systems is a plus.
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a keen attention to detail.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across departments.
    • Proven leadership abilities and a track record of managing and developing high-performing teams.
    Working Conditions
    • This position is typically based in an office environment with standard working hours.
    • Occasional travel may be required for meetings, conferences, or training.
