Job DescriptionPURPOSE AND SCOPE:
It is the responsibility of the CE Instructors to provide the learning activities and support that will lead to the achievement of the course objectives and contribute to the educational environment of the department, college, and the community. The Instructor member's role encompasses the general areas of learning facilitation and, when not instructing, may include taking part in curriculum development, development and growth of the department, professional development, and institutional service. Primary responsibilities are to plan, develop and teach courses within the curriculum in a manner that facilitates student learning.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
1.Teaches courses in the Alternative Teacher Certification program at a variety of times and locations in response to institutional needs
2.Utilizes a course syllabus for each course or laboratory, following established institutional and department guidelines
3.Provides timely, quality access to students by appointment, electronic communication, and other appropriate methods
4.Continuously improves instructional quality by reviewing and utilizing innovative methodologies, techniques, and delivery methods, including collaborative learning, learning communities, service learning, instructional technology, and online learning
5.Evaluates students by a variety of means to measure their progress in achieving course objectives, compliance in field experience and inform them in a timely manner of their progress
6.Plans, develops and uses a variety of teaching methods and materials that assist students in meeting course objectives, and which are appropriate for students with differing educational and experiential backgrounds and learning styles
7.Attends in-service meetings and trainings with students and ISD partners
8.Maintains professional relationships with students, colleagues, ISD partners and the community
9.Provides access to students through posted office hours, electronic communication, and other appropriate methods
10.Responsible for professional development and institutional service as determined in consultation with the Dean
11.Reviews, evaluates, and recommends student learning materials
12.Submits required college reports and forms
13.Responsible for other reasonable, related duties as assigned

PHYSICAL ABILITIES:
The work is sedentary. Typically, the employee sits comfortably to do the work. However, there may be some walking; standing; bending; carrying of light items, such as papers, books, or small parts; or driving an automobile. No special physical demands are required to perform the work.
WORK SCHEDULE & CONDITIONS:
·Equipment used includes, PC workstation running on a LAN in a Microsoft Windows environment, calculator, phone, and other general office equipment
·Travel to ISD partner schools as needed to carry out the functions of the position
·Interface with internal and external contacts as needed to carry out the functions of the position
·Work is performed in a climate-controlled office with minimal exposure to safety hazards
·Hours will vary depending on class time; Instructors are required to meet with classes at all scheduled times and be available to students outside of class instruction
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
·Master's degree in education or related field and at least 3 years of recent, documented experience in K-12 classroom teaching
·Valid Texas Teacher Certification
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
·Texas Teacher Evaluation and Support System (T-TESS) Appraiser Certification
·Doctoral Degree in related field
·PK-12 administrative experience
SalaryCommensurate with education, experience and qualifications.
