The Ohio State University Human Performance Collaborative (HPC) and the Infectious Diseases Institute (IDI), two premiere interdisciplinary research organizations within the Enterprise for Research, Innovation, and Knowledge, seek an action-oriented, motivated, and experienced professional to serve as a Business Operations Analyst. This position offers an exciting career opportunity with a robust and diversified job duties portfolio across both organizations. The Business Operations Analyst will perform the following job functions: administrative, event planning, fiscal operations, and marketing and communications. The Business Operations Analyst will manage and supervise student employees to assist with the successful completion of job duties. The ideal candidate for this position will possess superior attention to detail, effective communication skills, both oral and written, the ability to successfully manage multiple duties, and will be able to adapt to change and shifting priorities. In addition, the candidate will embrace university core values, continuous quality improvement principles, and will perform all job duties in compliance with university policies and ethical standards.

Position Duties

The HPC and IDI Business Operations Analyst will perform various job functions and will contribute to strategic missions of both organizations. The job duties for this position are broken down into categories as follows:

Administrative

  • Schedule and participate in meetings
  • Develop meeting agendas
  • Create travel itineraries
  • Coordinate personnel functions, including job requisition entries, candidate search schedules, on-boarding, visa processing, and performance planning

Event Planning

  • Coordinate scientific meetings, educational seminars, and outreach events
  • Develop meeting programs
  • Develop and manage registration intake processes

Fiscal Operations

  • Initiate procurement requisitions and travel authorizations and reimbursements
  • Analyze financial reports and manage budgets
  • Assist with budget planning and long-term financial strategies
  • Develop end-user financial reports
  • Initiate changes to personnel records
  • Track asset records and initiate asset information changes

Marketing and Communications

  • Manage website content updates and provide suggestion for creative elements
  • Develop, manage, and produce weekly newsletter and assists with writing articles
  • Develop promotional materials such as scientific meeting posters
  • Develop and maintain inventory of promotional products for use at various functions

In addition, the Business Operations Analyst will manage and execute special projects as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance or business administration or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Minimum of 2 years of experience required; Extensive experience with Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, PowerPoint outstanding written and oral communication skills; sound fiscal knowledge; understanding of effective business operations and internal controls; self-directed orientation; ability to lead projects with little guidance; strong organizational skills and attention to detail; ability to work in a hybrid work environment (both in-person and remote)

2-4 years of relevant experience; Workday experience; experience managing grant budgets; experience in a research-intensive environment

Additional Information:

The work platform for this position is hybrid (combination of in-person and remote work); position may require work hours in excess of 40 hours/week during high-volume periods and may include occasional evenings and weekends.

This is a one-year term position with the potential for an extension based on funding and performance.
