The Ohio Biomedical Services (OBS) department is responsible for assuring that the patient care instrumentation used within regional hospitals that the Medical Center contracts with is safe and effective. This involves all aspects of medical equipment asset management including systems planning, pre-purchase assessment, acquisition, installation, functional verification, incorporation into the clinical environment, routine maintenance, corrective maintenance and scheduled updates as appropriate. The OBS department works closely with clinicians to identify and address issues involving medical systems applications. The OBS staff work closely with regional hospital administration, finance and procurement to achieve the best value for medical equipment, while coordinating with Facilities Services and Information Technology to insure systems compatibility.
Position Summary
Provides and documents, without supervision, preventive, Interval-based and corrective maintenance on biomedical equipment. Installs, calibrates, repairs and inspects medical equipment and solves moderately complex problems in the field. Performs and repairs up to and including the diagnosis and repair of difficult problems. Participates in evaluations and installations of equipment, provides information to develop procedures, and provides direct oversight of the Clinical Engineering Database.
Minimum Qualifications
Associates Degree or equivalent Military experience preferred
1 year of relevant experience required. 2-4 years of relevant experience preferred
Knowledge of anatomy, physiology, chemistry and physics is preferred
Experience with business software such as Microsoft Office Programs: Excel, Word, Power Point, Vizio, Project; and Adobe preferred
Experience, training, and/or certification in process improvement preferred
Additional Skills
Meets mandatory education and health surveillance requirements
Demonstrated competence in technical, interpersonal, and cognitive skills required to meet essential job functions
