GENERAL SUMMARY/OVERVIEW STATEMENT:
Analog Brain Imaging Laboratory at the Athinoula A. Martinos Center for Biomedical Imaging of MGH is a leading research lab dedicated to developing and translating novel neuromodulation tools and therapies to help patients. We are seeking a highly motivated individual to join our team as a Bulfinch Temp Research Technician. This role will work closely with investigators, Research Fellows, and other technicians and require the ability to communicate effectively, work well in a team setting, be highly organized, and have a strong desire to learn new methods. Candidates are required to handle research animals (rodents). The position is based at the MGH Navy Yard campus. It will provide opportunities to publish as a co-author and offer an experience for a career in science, medicine, and biotechnology.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Work with mice and rats for in vivo experiments, including behavioral tests, anesthesia, dissection, induction of neuropathy models, tissue harvest, and post-procedural follow-up of animals.
- Conducts experiments following a protocol; identifies and documents variations that may affect the validity of the experiment.
- Assists senior lab personnel in setting up advanced or very complex experiments.
- Participates in interpreting experimental result through conferencing with senior lab personnel or principal investigator to review dat compared to hypothesis and research methodology in instances of inexplicable data.
- Interfaces with Research Fellows and collaborating investigators to design and collaborate on projects.
- Demonstrates success in coordinating and conducting multiple concurrent assignments or a multi-faceted project.

EDUCATION:Required: Bachelor's Degree
EXPERIENCE:Required: 1-year of related experience. Some experience with handling rodents, rodent anesthesia, and/or organ collection is required.
Preferred: Experience in behavioral tests in rodents is highly preferred.
WORKING CONDITIONS:Work is done in a laboratory setting.This position requires handling laboratory animals and working with electrical and magnetic stimulation equipment.
