The Department of History at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign invites applications and nominations for the Crawford Professor of East Asian History with a specialization in Modern China at the rank of Associate/Full Professor (full-time tenured position), with a target start date of August 16, 2025. Successful candidates are expected to teach effectively at both the undergraduate and graduate levels, establish and maintain an active and independent research program, and provide service to the department, the university and the profession. A completed Ph.D. in History or related area is required and applicants at the Associate/Full Professor level must have an established record in research, teaching, and service. The budgeted salary range for the position is $100-110,000 at the Associate Professor level, and $110-120,000 at the Full Professor level, for a 9-month service basis. Salary is competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience, while also considering internal equity.
