Associate Director - ADC Conjugation

As an Associate Director specializing in ADC Conjugation, you will be part of a team of highly skilled and passionate individuals responsible for innovating and generating best-in-class antibody-drug conjugates (ADCs) for the Oncology therapeutic area. This exciting opportunity allows you to lead and contribute to fast-paced, multi-disciplinary drug development efforts.

Accountabilities

  • Team Leadership: Manage and mentor a team of conjugation scientists to deliver platform and pipeline-focused drug conjugates for oncology and other therapeutic areas.
  • Workflow Coordination: Coordinate, align, and plan conjugation and analytical workflows within a larger team.
  • Method Development: Develop and optimize novel conjugation methodologies to improve ADC properties.
  • Collaboration: Work collaboratively with a diverse group of scientists across various therapeutic areas, chemistry, and process development to ensure timely progress in research projects and drive technological innovations.
  • Laboratory Maintenance: Lead and coordinate laboratory maintenance, including equipment upkeep and lab safety.

Essential Skills/Experience
  • Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry, Chemical Biology, Biochemistry, or other relevant disciplines with 7+ years of relevant industrial experience or Masters in Organic Chemistry, Chemical Biology, Biochemistry, or other relevant disciplines with 12+ years of relevant industrial experience
  • ADC Design: Demonstrated hands-on experience in the design and generation of antibody-drug conjugates.
  • Analytical Techniques: Working knowledge of characterization using analytical techniques such as Hydrophobic Interaction Chromatography (HIC)-HPLC, Size Exclusion Chromatography (SEC), Liquid Chromatography-Mass Spectrometry (LC-MS), Ion-Exchange (IEX), and Reversed Phase (RP)-HPLC.
  • Protein Purification: Hands-on experience and knowledge of protein purification using HIC, IEX, SEC, and affinity chromatography. Experience with GE AKTA FPLC is preferred.
  • Project Management: Proven ability to work independently, effectively plan and organize work activities, and prioritize task completion to meet project deadlines.
  • Problem-Solving: Demonstrated experience in optimizing/troubleshooting protocols with a problem-solving mindset and maintaining a detailed laboratory notebook.
  • Scientific Innovation: Track record of scientific innovation as evidenced by scientific publications, patents, and oral presentations at conferences.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to effectively present complex scientific data to cross-functional teams and senior management.

Desirable Skills/Experience
  • Mass Spectrometry: Strong knowledge in mass spectrometry and other novel analytical techniques for comprehensive assessment of bioconjugates.
  • CRO Coordination: Experience working and coordinating with Contract Research Organizations (CROs)
  • People Management: Experience managing a team of bioconjugation and analytical chemists

The annual base pay (or hourly rate of compensation) for this position ranges from $128,631 to $192,946. Hourly and salaried non-exempt employees will also be paid overtime pay when working qualifying overtime hours. Base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. In addition, our positions offer a short-term incentive bonus opportunity; eligibility to participate in our equity-based long-term incentive program (salaried roles), to receive a retirement contribution (hourly roles), and commission payment eligibility (sales roles). Benefits offered included a qualified retirement program [401(k) plan]; paid vacation and holidays; paid leaves; and, health benefits including medical, prescription drug, dental, and vision coverage in accordance with the terms and conditions of the applicable plans. Additional details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment. If hired, employee will be in an "at-will position" and the Company reserves the right to modify base pay (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, Company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.
