Assistant Underwriter

Established organization is seeking an Underwriter Assistant on a Direct Hire basis! Pay ranges from $65-85k DOE.

Responsibilities:

• Processes new business submissions and tracks returned forms.
• Supports underwriters with renewals, application reviews, and policy decisions.
• Conducts loss analysis and reviews documentation for accounts.
• Provides underwriting support for smaller, less complex accounts.
• Collaborates on quotes, renewals, policy changes, and related issues.
• Builds relationships with agents and addresses their inquiries promptly.
• Prepares data for reports and special projects as needed.
• Requests renewal information, investigative reports, and risk control services.
• Updates and maintains policy details using company systems and manuals.
• Calculates premiums for endorsements and cancellations.
• Resolves billing issues in coordination with internal teams.
• Manages interim wage reports and ensures accurate account documentation.
• Performs other duties as required.

Qualifications:

• 2+ years of commercial insurance experience preferred.
• Strong knowledge of commercial rating systems.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Proficient in interpreting policy terms and factual data.
• Effective multitasking and time management under deadlines.
• Demonstrates urgency and delivers prompt, effective customer service.
• Works well independently and collaboratively.
• Authorization to work in the U.S. required.
