Job Summary
Roane State Community College is inviting applications for qualified candidates for a full time faculty position in our Mechatronics Program. The successful candidate will teach a combination of Mechatronics classes including introductory classes in electrical circuits, hydraulics/pneumatics, mechanical systems, and programmable logic controllers (PLCs), as well as advanced classes in statics/dynamics, robotics, PLCs, and automated production technologies. Classes are taught both in daytime and evening classes at our Clinton Facility and at the Harriman Campus. Some classes may be located at area high schools.
The appointment is expected to begin in August 2024.

Job Duties
Plan and teach classes as outlined in the course descriptions and course syllabi.
Teach 15 course hours per semester and schedule a minimum of 15 office hours per week, including evenings, possibly traveling to off-campus sites.
Use technology and approved curricular aides in order to ensure alignment of the curriculum with Siemens Level 1 and 2 certifications.
Provide service to the campus and students under the direction of the Program Director for Mechatronics.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree or higher in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, Engineering Technology, Mechatronics or similar Engineering field.
An Associate degree in these fields in conjunction with relevant professional experience is also acceptable.
Preferred Qualifications
Teaching experience in manufacturing technology-related programs.
Teaching experience in post-secondary education programs.
Master's degree in suitable engineering discipline.
Computer skills including familiarity with Desire2Learn (or other course management software), schematic design software, Siemens and Allen-Bradley PLCs.
Knowledge of the role and purpose of the community college in higher education.
Willingness to work with diverse student populations who represent a wide range of age, ethnicity, and academic ability.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Candidate must have good oral and written communication skills, the ability to work with students of all ages, and exhibit flexibility and collegiality.
